As the national election draws closer, the government has reshuffled its field administration, appointing new deputy commissioners (DCs) in three districts – Chattogram, Narsingdi and Naogaon.
A notification signed by Aminul Islam, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, was issued on Sunday morning confirming the appointments. The order is set to come into effect soon, officials said.
According to the circular, Mohammad Abdul Awal, Mohammad Anwar Hossain and Monira Hoque will now serve as DCs for Chattogram, Narsingdi and Naogaon respectively.
Abdul Awal, who previously worked as the DC of Naogaon, is being transferred to Chattogram – one of the country’s most significant administrative hubs. Anwar Hossain has been moved from his role as deputy secretary at the Division of Health Education and Family Welfare under the Ministry of Health to take charge in Narsingdi.
Monira Hoque, formerly a deputy secretary at the Division of Secondary and Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, will head the district administration in Naogaon.
The reshuffle is seen as part of a broader effort to streamline the field-level bureaucracy and ensure smooth coordination between local administration and the Election Commission ahead of the polls expected in February.
