Govt–private sector coordination key to animal health, nutrition security: Adviser Farida

Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter on Thursday stressed the need for stronger coordination between the government and the private sector to ensure animal health and nutrition security, saying the government alone cannot effectively deliver food and nutrition security for the people.She made the remarks while inaugurating the 6th International Expo–2026 of the Animal Health Companies Association of Bangladesh (AHCAB) at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka, held under the slogan “Healthy Animals, Prosperous Nation.”Praising entrepreneurs in the sector, Farida said they are not only investing but also taking proactive initiatives to advance the livestock sector.“Ensuring human health is not possible by ignoring animal health,” she said, adding that whether fish, livestock or poultry, the fundamental condition for producing animal protein is ensuring the health of the animals concerned.Highlighting the importance of the “One Health” concept, the adviser said, “Sustainable health security can only be ensured through the ...
