As Bangladesh heads toward the February 2026 elections, BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Thursday said the party is rebuilding itself from the grassroots with a renewed emphasis on transparency, accountability, and youth engagement to regain the trust of voters.

In a Facebook post, Tarique Rahman said over 7,000 BNP members have already faced disciplinary actions—including demotions and expulsions—for corruption, extortion, and misconduct.

He noted that while such steps were not easy, they were “necessary” to prove that the BNP is serious about integrity.

Discipline is not a weakness—it is our strength. By holding our own members accountable, we demonstrate to the nation that we will hold ourselves to the same standards we demand from those in power, he wrote.

Tarique said the BNP is modernising itself to meet the challenges of the future, with policy priorities rooted in its 31-Points, including education, healthcare, youth employment, climate resilience, and digital innovation.

He also stressed inclusivity, pledging to bring more women, young leaders, and professionals into the party to reflect service, fairness, and competence.

Citing the legacy of former president  Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia in defending democracy, Tarique said today’s BNP must adapt to a new era “where integrity, youth leadership, and global competitiveness are central to nation building.”

The BNP is re-emerging as a disciplined, forward-looking, and modern political force, he said, urging party members to stay united, disciplined, and committed to service.
