Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Ghani has made a sudden trip to Pakistan. He left Dhaka for Islamabad on Wednesday.

Multiple senior officials at the Home Ministry confirmed the matter to PanBD.

According to sources, he will remain in Pakistan until September 26.

On Wednesday at around 12:30 pm, the Senior Secretary departed from his Gulshan-2 residence by road for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. He later boarded a flight at 1:30 pm bound for Pakistan.

The ministry sources further said that he is scheduled to return on September 26. He will leave Islamabad International Airport at 2:00 pm local time and is expected to land in Dhaka at around 3:30 pm the same day.

During this visit, he is accompanied by Md Mahbubur Rahman, Deputy Secretary of Police-1 Wing of the Home Ministry; Additional Inspector General of Police Headquarters Mohammad Rezaul Karim; and DIG of Police Headquarters Md Jannatul Hasan.

Sources indicated that the visit is centered around the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries. Besides, the trip is seen as a positive step towards improving diplomatic and political ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The visit is also expected to open discussions on strengthening mutual trust and cooperation. Issues like easing visa procedures for diplomatic and official passport holders, facilitating official visits, and enhancing cultural and educational exchanges may also come up during the talks.
