A cabin crew member of Biman Bangladesh Airlines sustained a fractured arm after falling during turbulence on a flight from Abu Dhabi to Dhaka via Chattogram on Friday.
The injured crew member was identified as Shabana Azmi Mithila.
Confirming the incident, Biman’s General Manager (Public Relations) Tasnimul Bashar said Mithila fell while performing her duties when the aircraft suddenly encountered turbulence, resulting in a fracture above her elbow.
Captain Intekhab, the pilot of flight BG-128, immediately contacted the airline’s Chief Medical Officer and arranged primary medical support on board.
Although Mithila was initially supposed to be taken to the Trauma Center Hospital upon arrival in Dhaka, she was later admitted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), popularly known as Pangu Hospital. She received treatment there and is now recovering at home.
Colleagues alleged that despite her serious injury, she did not receive immediate medical support at the airport. However, the airline authorities claimed she was rushed to the hospital without delay.
No passengers were injured in the incident.
