Bangladesh Army has clarified that it has no involvement in the upcoming central student union elections at universities, including the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) polls.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Monday morning, the Army dismissed speculation of interference, saying the question of its role in Ducsu polls “does not arise.” It added that the matter had already been clarified in earlier press releases.

The statement accused “vested quarters” of deliberately spreading false and baseless rumors to create confusion and disrupt stability, warning that such propaganda could hamper the overall electoral environment.

The Army expressed hope that the long-awaited student union elections will be conducted in an orderly, peaceful and democratic manner, setting an example ahead of the upcoming national elections. It also extended its best wishes to candidates, voters and all concerned.
