The Bangladesh Embassy in Abu Dhabi has dismissed as baseless the recent reports claiming that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) imposed a visa ban on Bangladeshis.

In a press release issued on Monday, the embassy said it recently noticed that certain Bangladeshi print and electronic media published reports with headlines such as “UAE imposes visa ban on Bangladeshis” or similar.

The reports cited as their source an article published on a so-called visa processing website named uaevisaonline.com.

The embassy would like to inform all concerned that the information published on that website is incorrect. The UAE authorities have confirmed that no such announcement has been made by any official authority in the Emirates, the statement read.

Upon reviewing the website, the embassy found that its registrant’s contact address and phone number are based in the UK, its technical contact details are also UK-based, while the registrant’s phone number is listed in the USA and the company’s contact number belongs to India. Although the company claimed its headquarters are in Dubai, the embassy confirmed that the building or house number mentioned in the given address does not exist.

The press release further said the embassy has reviews of the company’s past activities, which show that most customers complained of being financially defrauded.

The Bangladesh Embassy advised Bangladeshis living both in the UAE and in Bangladesh not to be misled by such baseless information.

It also urged all concerned to exercise greater responsibility when disseminating or sharing any information or news.
