BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will be flown to London on Sunday if her medical team confirms she is fit to travel.
Talking to reporters after Juma prayers, Fakhrul said Khaleda urgently requires advanced medical care.
“That’s why she is being taken to England. She became more ill due to inadequate treatment while in jail. Khaleda Zia has sacrificed herself for the restoration of democracy,” he added.
Fakhrul also said the special air ambulance arranged by the Amir of Qatar could not arrive in Dhaka today due to technical issues.
“If everything goes well, the air ambulance may reach Dhaka on Saturday. After that, her travel will depend on the doctors’ assessment of her physical condition,” he noted.
