Bangladesh has not yet received any positive response from India regarding the repatriation request for Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain said on Friday.
Talking to reporters at Rangpur Circuit House, he noted that Bangladesh formally sought India’s cooperation in returning Sheikh Hasina, who has been convicted by the country’s highest court.
“But we haven’t received any positive signal so far,” he said.
“Such matters don’t change overnight or within a week. We will wait and see how India reacts. We are hearing that they are examining the matter. Let them examine it,” the adviser added.
Touhid Hossain arrived in Rangpur on Friday morning on a four-day visit from Dhaka.
According to his schedule, he will visit key sites and installations in the city, and on Saturday morning he will hold a meeting with district administration officials at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room.
