Three people, including two women and a man, were killed after a speeding bus ran over an autorickshaw in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur on Friday.

Four others, including two children, were injured in the crash and taken to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

The accident occurred around 12pm in the Purba Shadordi area on the Faridpur–Bhanga–Barishal Highway.

Police and Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot upon receiving information and carried out rescue operations.

Confirming the incident, Sohel Mia, sub-inspector of Highway Police, said an autorickshaw heading towards Takerhat from Bhanga was hit by a fast-moving bus coming from the opposite direction, leaving three passengers dead on the spot. The bodies were recovered and the injured sent to the health complex.

The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately. Rescue operations were underway.
