BNP is prepared to participate in the national election in February, provided no major crisis or disruptive situation arises, said the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday.
Speaking to reporters after a prayer gathering at Sardar Para Jame Mosque in Kurigram for the recovery of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Rizvi noted that the party has been preparing in line with the timeframe indicated by the government.
Regarding the possible return of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, he said Tarique is a leader of the masses and will return to the country at an appropriate time, considering his mother’s health, based on his own decision.
“This is a family matter,” he added.
Addressing reports of internal disputes among BNP leaders over nominations in various districts, Rizvi expressed hope that all differences would fade as the election approaches.
“Everyone will ultimately work together for the victory of the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Rizvi distributed meat among several orphanages and underprivileged people in Kurigram seeking prayers for Khaleda Zia’s recovery.
