Malaysian authorities have detained two Bangladeshi men suspected of being involved in a syndicate allegedly supplying foreign workers to factories in Johor Bahru through the misuse of Temporary Employment Visit Passes.
The Johor Immigration Department conducted raids at several locations as part of an operation against the syndicate, which allegedly facilitated the illegal placement of foreign workers.
A total of 123 foreign workers were detained during the raids, according to the New Straits Times, citing Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus.
The authorities are investigating how the syndicate allegedly obtained and misused employment passes to supply workers to factories in the area.
The two Bangladeshis are among those being investigated over the suspected syndicate's activities, while the immigration authorities are continuing efforts to identify other individuals linked to the network.
The operation is part of Malaysia's ongoing enforcement against the illegal recruitment and placement of foreign workers.
