A few isolated incidents of cocktail explosions and bus burnings cannot create a crisis for the government, Information and Broadcasting Adviser Zahed Ur Rahman said on Tuesday.
He made the remarks while responding to questions from journalists at a regular press briefing at the Secretariat on the progress of various government activities.
“I'm not talking about the Awami League, but a few cocktails have exploded at some places in Dhaka city and buses have been set on fire. I don't think these incidents can actually create a crisis for the government,” Zahed Ur Rahman said.
He further said the government does not see any political crisis. “Politics should actually be conducted keeping in mind that a democratically elected government will remain in office for five years.”
Referring to recent protests in India, Zahed Ur Rahman said the Korokoch Janata Party had staged a major movement, while farmers had earlier demonstrated against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, even bringing Delhi to a standstill, but no demand was made for the government's resignation.
“Where there is failure, creating pressure is what works better,” he said.
Chief Information Officer of the Press Information Department Syed Abdal Ahmed was also present at the press briefing.
