Bangladesh completed a dominant 3-0 whitewash over Afghanistan after clinching the third and final match of the three-match T20 series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Having already secured the series by winning the first two matches, the Tigers wrapped up the tour in style with another convincing victory, chasing down a 144-run target with two overs and six wickets to spare — thanks to a superb knock from Saif Hassan.
Put in to bat first, Afghanistan struggled to build momentum, losing three wickets before reaching 40 runs. Despite a brief recovery through small partnerships, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals under pressure from Nasum Ahmed and Mohammad Saifuddin.
Darwish Rasooli top-scored for Afghanistan with 32, while Siddiqullah Atal made 28 and Mujeeb Ur Rahman added 23.
For Bangladesh, Saifuddin starred with the ball, taking three wickets for 15 runs in three overs. Nasum Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan Sakib claimed two wickets each, while Shariful Islam and Rishad Hossain picked up one apiece.
In reply, Bangladesh lost opener Mohammad Naim early for 14, but a 55-run stand between Saif Hassan and Tanzid Hasan steadied the chase. Tanzid scored 33 off 33 balls before getting out, while skipper Zakir Hasan and Saif kept the scoreboard ticking.
Bangladesh faced a brief scare when Mujeeb Ur Rahman struck twice in consecutive deliveries to remove Zakir and Shamim Hossain at 109, but Saif’s composed batting ensured there were no further hiccups.
Saif remained unbeaten on 64, guiding the Tigers to victory alongside Nurul Hasan, who finished not out on 10. Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the pick of the Afghan bowlers with two wickets.
With this win, Bangladesh not only sealed a series whitewash but also continued their impressive run of form in T20 internationals.
