BNP Acting Chairman Tareque Rahman has pledged to protect the country's habitat and build a greener, more sustainable Bangladesh through climate action and planned urbanisation.

In a post from his verified Facebook profile marking World Habitat Day, Tareque Rahman said a home is a basic human right and that “we cannot have a strong home in a broken environment.”

He said the BNP’s 31-Point Plan serves as a roadmap to address the challenges of chaotic urban growth and climate risk, highlighting two key commitments — climate change and environmental protection, and planned, balanced urbanisation and decentralisation.

Tareque Rahman vowed to end Dhaka-centric growth by building modern, well-planned cities across the country so that “every region rises and every citizen benefits.”

He announced that a future BNP government would launch a National Green Mission, which includes planting 250 million trees, restoring rivers, turning waste into resources, modernising agriculture, investing in renewable energy, and expanding the blue economy to create opportunities for the youth.

We will protect our habitat and preserve our future. Together, let’s build a greener, more sustainable Bangladesh,” he said.
