Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday attended his Armed Forces Division office at Dhaka Cantonment for the first time since assuming office, marking a significant step in his official engagements with the nation’s defence leadership.
Arriving at the Armed Forces Division around 9:00 am, the prime minister was received by the chiefs of the three services — Army, Navy and Air Force — with whom he exchanged greetings before beginning his day’s schedule, Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon said.
As part of the programme, PM Tarique adorned Lieutenant General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman with his new rank badge following his recent promotion and appointment as Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division.
He also presented rank badges to Major General Mohammad Kaisar Rashid Chowdhury on his elevation and new role as Director General of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI).
Senior military and government officials present at the event included the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff, Defence Secretary, press aides and other distinguished officers, reflecting the government’s continued coordination with the armed forces.
This visit follows PM Tarique’s earlier appearances at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon and the Secretariat as he settles into his leadership role after the BNP’s victory in the national elections and his swearing-in last week.
