The Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday night directed senior district election officers and district election officers to submit the final list of polling centres for the national election and referendum.

In a directive signed by EC Deputy Secretary Md Humayun Kabir, it said the draft list of polling centres was published on September 10 in line with the Polling Centre Establishment and Management Policy. Following the settlement of claims and objections, a preliminary final list was prepared on October 20.

The directive said that if any change, replacement or correction is required in the preliminarily finalised polling centres in compliance with the policy, the updated list must be sent within five working days in two sets of hard copies, along with a soft copy in a pen drive to the NICS front desk.

While sending the proposed list of polling centres, officials were asked to verify several issues, including the constituency number and name, upazila or thana name, polling centre number, serial number, number of voters and total count, explanation regarding temporary centres and temporary rooms, whether the word “temporary” is mentioned in the relevant column, and whether the number of polling centres and polling rooms corresponds with the voter count as per policy.

The EC also instructed that a constituency-wise summary be submitted for polling centres that were changed from those used in the 12th national parliamentary election, as well as newly proposed centres for the referendum and the upcoming election.

The directive further said that senior district election officers and district election officers must send the list with a certification confirming that the polling centres have been proposed in accordance with the Polling Centre Establishment and Management Policy.
