Osman Hadi, a nomination aspirant for Dhaka-8 and general secretary of Inqilab Manch, has been shot.

He was rescued in a bullet-hit state on Friday afternoon and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

His supporters said two assailants on a motorcycle shot him from close range in Bijoynagar area of Paltan after Juma prayers while he was campaigning. The attackers fled immediately after the shooting. Initial reports suggest he was hit below his left ear.

Confirming the incident, Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Moniruzzaman said they received information about the shooting. “We heard he has been shot, but we don’t yet know where it happened. We have just sent police to Dhaka Medical,” he added.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp in-charge Inspector Md Faruk said Hadi had been shot and was taken to the ICU of the hospital’s emergency unit.

Doctors at DMCH have not yet provided details about his current physical condition.
