BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia remains under intensive monitoring at the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the capital’s Evercare Hospital.

She is receiving treatment under the supervision of a medical board formed for her care, along with local and overseas specialists, according to her personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain on Thursday.

BNP has urged the country’s people to pray for her recovery. The party also announced that special prayers and munajat will be held nationwide after Jumma prayers on Friday.

Khaleda Zia was brought to the hospital on Sunday night from her Gulshan residence, Firoza, for health check-ups. Following medical board recommendations, she was admitted and is undergoing tests and receiving necessary treatment.

Earlier, on October 15, she was admitted to the same hospital for a day for routine examinations.

The former prime minister has long been suffering from arthritis, diabetes, kidney and lung issues, eye complications, and several other chronic ailments.
