BNP Secretary-General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed profound regret that late veteran politician Barrister Moudud Ahmed passed away before witnessing the "downfall of the fascist Hasina".

Fakhrul made the striking political contention on Tuesday evening while speaking at a book launch event in Gulshan, Dhaka, commemorating the works of the former Vice President and Prime Minister.

Addressing the gathering, the BNP leader underscored the current political volatility in Bangladesh, arguing that the country desperately needed Moudud Ahmed’s counsel.

“We are living in a state of unrest,” Fakhrul said, adding, “Among the people who could have shown us the path, who could have given us direction out of this instability, Moudud was one of the foremost.”

He then made the emotional comment, “He could not see the downfall of the fascist Hasina, and that is regrettable.”
