The government is on alert ahead of the Awami League’s planned lockdown on 13 November, said Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam.

Talking to journalists at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Jahangir Alam said authorities are closely monitoring the activities associated with the party’s shutdown.

He assured that there is no reason for public concern and stressed that no form of terrorism would be tolerated. “Authorities will not show leniency to anyone. If you notice any suspicious individuals, inform law enforcement,” he said.

The Home Affairs Adviser added that patrolling has been increased and security at key installations strengthened. Efforts to seize illegal weapons continue, and petrol sales along roadsides have been restricted, as such items could be misused to cause incidents.

Jahangir Alam also noted that while there have been isolated incidents in some areas, no major incidents have occurred.

He urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement in preventing potential disruptions and reiterated that taking the law into one’s own hands is not permissible.
