Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul on Sunday said there is no reason to be worried about the upcoming national election, as the government is determined to hold it in the first half of February.

He made the remarks while talking to reporters after a meeting with judges at the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Rajshahi on Sunday morning.

The government will take all necessary steps to ensure a festive atmosphere for the election,” Dr Nazrul said, adding that political parties often make statements to put pressure on each other or on the advisers.

While some of their concerns may have a basis, in reality, there is no reason for apprehension about the polls,” he noted.

The adviser further said individuals who might repeat similar offences after securing bail or pose a threat to law and order are being kept under observation.

To ease the pressure of pending cases, the government is appointing three judges in place of one in some courts, Dr Nazrul added.
