National Citizen Party Convener Nahid Islam has said that the people of Bangladesh are yearning for change, and without it, revolts, elections, or consensus commissions will all end in failure.
He made the remarks on Friday while speaking at the launching event of the University Teachers Forum held at the Bangla Academy in the capital.
Nahid warned that if change does not come, the youth will once again take to the streets if necessary. “The fascist structure still exists, which is why even after the so-called consensus process, no true agreement could be reached,” he said.
Fascism cannot be eradicated without a transformation in personal and social thinking,” he added, noting that a bridge between students and teachers has been forged through mass movements.
Nahid also praised teachers for their continued efforts in establishing democracy and assured them of his party’s full support in that struggle.
