Rajshahi Warriors clinched the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) title this season with a commanding 63-run victory over Chattogram Royals in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Chattogram, who had earlier become the first team to secure a place in the final, were completely outplayed while chasing a challenging target of 175. From the outset, their innings never gained momentum as they were bundled out for just 111 with 13 balls still remaining.

With the emphatic win, skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto led Rajshahi to their second BPL crown. The franchise had previously lifted the trophy in the 2019–20 season under the name Rajshahi Royals.

Earlier, Chattogram captain Sheikh Mehedi Hasan won the toss and opted to field. Rajshahi made full use of the decision, getting off to a flying start. Openers Tanzid Hasan and Sahibzada Farhan added 83 runs for the first wicket, laying a strong foundation. Farhan departed after scoring 30 off as many balls.

Tanzid, meanwhile, continued his scintillating form and brought up his century before being dismissed on the final ball of the 19th over. By then, Rajshahi had surged to 163 for three, firmly setting sights on a big total. The left-hander also created history by becoming the first Bangladeshi batter to score three centuries in a single BPL tournament.

Rajshahi added another 11 runs in the final over to post a competitive total, despite losing one more wicket. For Chattogram, Shariful Islam and Mukidul Islam picked up two wickets apiece.

In reply, Chattogram’s chase stumbled early as they lost two wickets within the first 18 runs. Opener Mohammad Naim Sheikh scored 9 off 10 balls, while Mahmudul Hasan Joy was dismissed for a duck.

The third wicket fell at 39, with Hasan Nawaz scoring 11 off seven balls. A brief resistance came through Mirza Baig and wicketkeeper-batter Jahiduzzaman, but their slow scoring rate pushed the Royals further out of contention. Jahiduzzaman managed 11 off 13 balls, while Mirza Baig top-scored with 39 off 36 deliveries.

Among the remaining batters, Asif Ali contributed 21 off 16 balls, but none of the others reached double figures as Chattogram’s innings folded for 111.

Rajshahi’s comprehensive performance in the final sealed a memorable BPL triumph, underlining their dominance in the tournament.
