Bangladesh has contributed US$1 million to Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support relief, recovery and humanitarian efforts following devastating floods and mudslides in northern Nepal.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir handed over a letter from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, addressed to his Nepalese counterpart Balendra Shah, to Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari at State Guest House Padma on Thursday.
The contribution, equivalent to around Tk 12.3 crore, reflects Bangladesh’s solidarity with the people of Nepal in the wake of the disaster.
Earlier on Sept 1, State Minister Humayun Kabir signed the condolence book at the Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka to express Bangladesh’s sympathies to the victims and their families.
The Bangladesh Parliament also adopted a condolence motion on Aug 27 following the tragedy.
