Elon Musk is teasing a leap into the future once again, this time promising a flying car prototype that could make personal transport look like something out of a sci-fi movie.
On The Joe Rogan Experience, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO said he hopes to unveil the prototype before the end of 2025, calling it “unforgettable” and hinting at “crazy technology” that might stretch the very definition of a car.
The details remain scarce, but Musk suggested it could be more than a conventional Roadster upgrade. Speculation is swirling that the vehicle may resemble a VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) aircraft—capable of lifting off like a helicopter rather than driving like a traditional car.
Musk described it as “crazier than anything James Bond has ever seen,” fueling excitement among fans and technophiles alike.
Yet history urges caution. Musk has a track record of bold promises—from Hyperloop pods to autonomous Robotaxis—that often take years to materialise.
Flying cars, meanwhile, face daunting technical and regulatory hurdles, and a commercial version remains a distant dream.
Still, if Musk delivers even a glimpse of his vision, it could be a spectacular moment that blurs the line between imagination and reality.
