Major websites and apps around the world experienced widespread disruptions on Sunday due to an outage affecting Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing arm of e-commerce giant Amazon.

Popular platforms including Snapchat, Duolingo, Zoom, and Roblox reported service interruptions, while customers of banks such as Lloyds and Halifax also faced difficulties accessing online services.

AWS, which provides the underlying infrastructure for millions of websites and applications globally, acknowledged the disruption and said it is now "seeing significant signs of recovery," with most requests expected to succeed.

The outage highlighted the extent to which the internet ecosystem relies on cloud providers, with users across multiple sectors—from social media and gaming to banking—experiencing intermittent access issues.

AWS has not yet detailed the cause of the outage, but engineers are actively working to restore full service. Users are advised to check official channels for updates.
