The results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations for 2025 have been published, with an overall pass rate of 58.83 percent, marking a sharp decline from last year’s 77.78 percent — a drop of 18.95 percentage points.

The results were released simultaneously by all 11 education boards, including nine general, one madrasa, and one technical board, at around 10 am on Thursday. The announcement was made by Professor Khondoker Ehsanul Kabir, Chairman of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee.

This year, 69,097 students achieved GPA-5, compared to 145,911 in 2024 — a decrease of 76,814 students.

Among the boards, Dhaka Board secured the highest number of GPA-5 achievers with 26,063 students, followed by Rajshahi (10,137), Dinajpur (6,260), Chattogram (6,097), Jashore (5,995), Madrasa (4,268), Cumilla (2,707), Mymensingh (2,684), Barishal (1,674), Technical (1,610), and Sylhet (1,602).

Students can access their results from their respective educational institutions, board websites, or via SMS.

According to a notice issued by the boards, institutions can download their results by visiting the “result corner” of the respective board website and entering their EIIN number. Individual students can also check results from the same websites or by sending an SMS to 16222. However, results will not be available directly from education boards, the Education Ministry, or newspaper offices.

Applications for result re-evaluation will be accepted from October 17 to October 23, and detailed instructions will be published on the respective board websites and in national dailies.

This year’s HSC and equivalent examinations began on June 26 and concluded on August 19, with several postponed exams held shortly afterward.

Under the 11 education boards, a total of 1,251,111 students registered for the exams — 618,015 male and 633,096 female candidates. Around 27,000 students were absent, leaving about 1.22 million awaiting their results.

By board, 291,241 students appeared under Dhaka, 133,242 under Rajshahi, 101,750 under Cumilla, 116,317 under Jashore, 100,135 under Chattogram, 61,025 under Barishal, 69,683 under Sylhet, 103,832 under Dinajpur, and 78,273 under Mymensingh.

Additionally, 86,102 students sat for the Alim (Madrasa Board) exams, and 109,611 students took part under the Technical Education Board.

The results for all boards were released simultaneously across the country.
