The government is set to finalise and publish the Mosque Management Policy 2025 within this month, aiming to make mosque affairs across the country more organised, transparent and participatory.
Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain said the mosque is not merely a place of worship but also the “heart of the Muslim community”, and therefore deserves a management framework that reflects time-befitting needs.
An acceptable mosque management policy will be formulated based on the opinions of all stakeholders,” the Adviser told participants at a workshop titled ‘Mosque Management Policy 2025’, held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque’s conference room on Wednesday.
He said a draft version of the policy has already been prepared by a dedicated committee, and the final version will be shaped through consultations with the country’s leading Islamic scholars.
We want to ensure that the interests of imams and muezzins are well protected and that mosque activities run smoothly in line with Islamic principles,” he added.
The workshop, organised by the Islamic Foundation, brought together more than 50 eminent Islamic scholars from across the country. The participants discussed how mosque management could be made more effective in today’s social context while maintaining religious values and traditions.
Earlier, Islamic Foundation Secretary Sheikh Murshidul Islam presented the draft of the Mosque Management (Revised) Policy 2025. The session was presided over by Islamic Foundation Director General A Salam Khan, with Religious Affairs Secretary Md Kamal Uddin attending as the special guest.
Distinguished Islamic scholars, including Allama Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek, Maulana Muhammad Khalilur Rahman Madani, Mufti Shamim Majumdar, Maulana Kazi Abu Huraira, Maulana Shah Nazrul Islam, Mufti Rezaul Karim Abrar, and Mufti Kasem Sharif, shared their insights and recommendations during the discussion.
Speakers emphasised that an updated and inclusive mosque management policy should promote unity, accountability, and community development — ensuring that mosques remain not only centres of worship but also of moral and social guidance.
