China will continue to support Bangladesh’s development efforts, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen said during a farewell meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday.

The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s Office at Bangladesh Secretariat. The Chinese ambassador also expressed hope that bilateral relations would grow stronger in the days ahead.

At the outset of the meeting, Yao Wen congratulated Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on his successful participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and various programmes in New York. The prime minister emphasised further expansion of trade, investment and development cooperation between the two countries, as well as issues of mutual interest, including the Rohingya crisis.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs-1 Humayun Kabir and Investment Bangladesh Chairman Ashik Chowdhury were present. Deputy Chief of Mission of the Chinese Embassy Liu Yuin accompanied Ambassador Yao Wen.
