Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, is currently in New York where he addressed the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Friday night.
Earlier on Tuesday (local time), Yunus attended a reception hosted by US President Donald Trump. A photograph taken at the event was shared early Saturday on the Chief Adviser’s verified Facebook page.
In the picture, a smiling Trump is seen standing between his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, and Professor Yunus. Beside Yunus stands his daughter, Dina Yunus, draped in a saree and smiling. The caption noted that the photo was taken on September 23 at Trump’s reception in New York.
At the gathering of world leaders, Professor Yunus exchanged greetings with President Trump and extended an invitation to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time.
During his stay in New York, the Chief Adviser also held discussions with a number of global leaders, including King Felipe VI of Spain, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and Bhutanese Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay.
In addition, Yunus met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor.
