Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M Nasiur Uddin has said that the government has full confidence in the Election Commission.

He made the remarks on Saturday (27 Sept) while addressing the Election Officials’ Conference 2025, organised by the Bangladesh Election Commission Officers’ Association at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon.

Around 850 upazila, district, and regional election officers from across the country attended the event.

The CEC said the Commission is tackling both visible and invisible challenges, assuring officials that no unlawful directives would be issued and urging them not to favour any political party. “The upcoming election is taking place in a special context, so preparations must be equally special,” he said.

Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Mohammad Sanaullah described the upcoming national election as the most challenging, pointing to a collapse in the electoral system.

Warning officials, the Election Commissioner stressed that this time international standards must be ensured and there could be no repeat of staged elections.

Election Commissioner Anwarul Islam Sarkar said the Commission had demonstrated its resilience in just 10 months and 10 days. “The Commission has shown it has the backbone. It is working firmly and without prejudice or favour,” he said.

Commissioner Rahmanel Masud reminded officials of the moral and spiritual dimension of their duties. “Conducting free and fair elections is a sacred trust placed upon the Commission. One will have to answer for it both in this world and in the hereafter,” he said.

Masud observed that the Commission had reached a point of no return regarding the upcoming election, stressing that there was no alternative but to ensure a credible process.
