The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent 500 kilograms of aromatic Chinigura rice to India as a gift on the occasion of Durga Puja.

A pickup truck carrying the rice crossed through Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria and entered India’s Agartala land port around 12:30 pm on Monday, said customs officials.

Md Wahiduzzaman Khan, Revenue Officer at Akhaura Land Customs Station, confirmed the matter.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the rice will be distributed among dignitaries in New Delhi through the Bangladesh High Commission.

Rajib Bhuiyan, owner of C&F agent Sueb Trade International, which handled the customs clearance, said, “The Foreign Ministry has sent 500 kg of aromatic Chinigura rice to the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi.”

Revenue Officer Wahiduzzaman Khan added that the consignment was released quickly following all procedures as per the ministry’s instructions.
