BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Saturday said Bangladesh’s youth are fully prepared to take part in national policymaking, stressing the need to create more space and opportunities for them to contribute to the country’s future.
In a post on his verified Facebook account, Tarique shared reflections from an informal discussion with young content creators and socially conscious youths at Justice Shahabuddin Park in the capital.
“Today, I sat in a lively and inspiring adda with young content creators and thoughtful youths at Justice Shahabuddin Park in Dhaka — not from a stage or behind barricades, but under the open sky,” he wrote. “Through our conversations, I realised what kind of new politics the youth truly want.”
Referring to participants of the ‘My Vision for Bangladesh’ reel competition, Tarique said he listened attentively to young people from different parts of the country, whose ideas ranged from education and employment to environmental protection, women’s empowerment and a corruption-free Bangladesh.
He noted that more than 2,200 reels were submitted to the competition, adding that the discussions were “realistic and deeply insightful.”
“These young voices clearly demonstrate that our youth are fully ready to be part of national policymaking,” Tarique said. “If we are to build the future of the country, we must create more opportunities and platforms for Bangladeshi youths where they can find pathways to leadership.”
Earlier in the afternoon, Tarique Rahman joined the informal interaction at Shahabuddin Park along with his daughter Zaima Rahman, where young participants shared their perspectives and aspirations for Bangladesh.
