President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday visited Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister and BNP Standing Committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmood at a city hospital.

According to a post published on the BNP Media Cell’s Facebook page, the President visited Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital in the capital in the morning, where the minister is undergoing treatment. Mahmood was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday night after falling ill.

During the visit, the President enquired about the minister’s health and spoke with the doctors to learn about his treatment and latest condition. He also spent some time sitting beside the minister’s bedside.

Earlier, Abdullah Kayes, personal assistant to the Power and Energy Minister, said Mahmood had been suffering from fever, cold and cough since Tuesday evening.

He was taken to the emergency department of Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital at around 10:30pm, and was later shifted to the hospital’s Coronary Care Unit (CCU) for treatment.
