Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided not to send the national team to India for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, citing security concerns.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the BCB board on Monday. Following the meeting, the board has already sent an email to the International Cricket Council (ICC), requesting a change of venue for the tournament.
Despite the uncertainty over participation, BCB earlier announced a 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup. Najmul Hossain Shanto was left out of the squad, while Nurul Hasan Sohan has been included as a wicketkeeping option alongside Litton Das. Zaker Ali Anik also failed to make the final squad.
The ICC T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on February 7. Bangladesh were set to start their World Cup campaign on the opening day with a match against West Indies, with Litton Das and Taskin Ahmed leading the side.
