Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on Friday expressed deep sorrow at the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inqilab Mancha, and announced that the government will take full responsibility for the welfare of his wife and child.
Addressing the nation at 11:20pm, the Chief Adviser said the government and the nation are grieving the loss of Osman Hadi.
“After Friday’s Jummah prayers, special prayers will be offered in all mosques seeking forgiveness for the departed soul of Hadi. Saturday will be observed as a day of state mourning in his memory,” he said.
Calling upon the people to remain calm and restrained, Yunus assured that those responsible for Hadi’s killing would be brought to justice swiftly.
“Do not give in to rumours or propaganda, and do not take any rash decisions,” he urged.
Describing Osman Hadi as a symbol of the revolution against fascism, the Chief Adviser said that the journey towards democracy cannot be halted by killing a revolutionary.
“Murdering a voice of resistance will not stop this democratic march,” he added.
