Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Saturday met the family members of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and a probable independent candidate from Dhaka-8 constituency.

Hadi’s brother Abu Bakar Siddiq, sister Masuma, and three Inqilab Mancha leaders—Abdullah Al Jaber, Fatima Tasnim Jhuma and Md Borhan Uddin—met the Chief Adviser Prof. Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna in the morning.

The Chief Adviser said the government is taking all possible measures to ensure the best treatment for Osman Hadi, adding that people across the country are praying for his recovery.

“Everyone is trying to ensure his best possible treatment. If his physical condition requires treatment abroad, the government will arrange it wherever necessary,” he said.

Osman Hadi’s sister said he had loved the country wholeheartedly since childhood and had always been revolutionary in spirit. “Revolutionary poetry was his favourite, and he loved reciting such poems. He has a 10-month-old child. Hadi is the backbone of our family,” she said.

She further said, “He has many unfinished responsibilities and must survive. You are a revolutionary government; the July revolutionaries must be protected at any cost. Otherwise, the country’s independence and sovereignty will be at risk.”

Demanding the swift arrest of those responsible, Inqilab Manch leader Abdullah Al Jaber said that after August 5 many people returned home, but Osman Hadi did not.

“He embodied the spirit of the July revolution and worked day and night for it. We are hearing that the shooter had previously been arrested in a case—how he got bail must be investigated,” he said.

Fatima Tasnim Jhuma urged the government to take measures to ensure the overall security of the July fighters.

The Chief Adviser assured that all those involved in the brutal attack would be identified and brought to justice.

He said law enforcement agencies are actively working to arrest the perpetrators at the earliest possible time and that instructions have already been issued for a full and thorough investigation into the incident.
