Sharif Osman Hadi, the independent contender for Dhaka-8 and spokesperson of Inqilab Manch who was shot earlier in the day, has been shifted from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to Evercare Hospital for advanced treatment.
An ICU ambulance carrying Hadi arrived at Evercare Hospital around 8pm on Friday, shortly after he underwent neurosurgery at DMCH. The ambulance left DMCH for Evercare at around 7:30pm following the operation.
Earlier in the evening, Brig Gen Mohammad Asaduzzaman, director of DMCH, told reporters that surgeons did not find any bullet inside Hadi’s head during the operation.
“They confirmed that the bullet exited,” he said.
According to Hadi’s aides, two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on him in the Bijoynagar area after Juma prayers while he was campaigning. He was hit behind his left ear and rushed to the DMCH emergency unit in a critically injured state.
Dr Mostaq Ahmed, residential surgeon at DMCH emergency, said Hadi was in extremely critical condition when brought in.
“He received CPR and his blood pressure became somewhat stable afterward. He is still not out of danger,” he added.
