National Citizens’ Party (NCP) chief organiser for the southern region Hasnat Abdullah has said he prays BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia lives long enough to “see justice served”, as he visited the ailing former prime minister at the Evercare Hospital on Saturday morning.
Speaking to reporters after the visit, Hasnat urged the nation to pray for Khaleda Zia’s quick recovery, saying, “May Allah grant her good health. The country is moving towards democratic transition — may she witness it herself.”
He alleged that the former premier had suffered due to “clinical and medical negligence” in the past, adding, “She was not allowed proper treatment in jail. We heard that even doctors who tried to attend to her were intimidated.”
Senior Joint Member-Secretary Dr Tasnim Jara said Khaleda Zia had always risen above political divisions in her struggle, and called on people from all parties to pray for her recovery.
