The interim government has reshuffled the posts of Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) following changes in the ranks of Deputy Commissioners (DCs), as part of its preparations for the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Public Administration issued eight separate notifications, appointing new UNOs to 166 upazilas. All the appointees are officials of senior assistant secretary rank.

According to the notifications, the newly appointed officials have been vested with the powers of Executive Magistrate under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, enabling them to carry out administrative and magisterial duties within their respective jurisdictions.

The appointees have been instructed to join their new posts by 30 November. Failure to do so will result in their immediate release from their current workplaces—whether training institutions or offices—effective from the afternoon of 30 November.

The circular also notes that if the office or workplace of any transferred officer has already been changed, they must submit their joining letter specifying the updated office name and address.
