BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said the party’s preparations for the upcoming national election are at their final stage, and any additional measures will be taken as soon as the election schedule is announced.

He stated that the BNP is “fully prepared” for the polls.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday at the BNP’s central office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka, Rizvi said the people of the country want the national election and the planned referendum to be held on the same day. He added that both processes “should and will” take place simultaneously.

Rizvi reaffirmed that BNP has already completed most of its preparations and will undertake further organisational activities after the schedule is declared.

He warned against the excessive use of religion in politics, saying such practices are neither appropriate nor beneficial. Those who misuse religion for political gain will be judged by the people, he noted, adding that over-reliance on religious narratives in politics ultimately brings harm.

Speaking about the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), he said parties opposing the BNP today may one day become part of the BNP-led alliance.
