The Advisory Council has approved the draft policy for the Referendum Ordinance-2025, clearing the way for issuing it as an ordinance.
The decision was taken on Tuesday at a meeting chaired by Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus.
Earlier, on November 20, the council had approved the Referendum Act in principle.
The government has already decided to hold a referendum on the day of the upcoming 13th national election to seek public opinion on the reform proposals recommended by the National Consensus Commission. Enacting a law is necessary to facilitate the referendum.
At that time, the interim government had said the ordinance would receive final approval within a few working days.
