A passenger bus caught fire while moving in Mohakhali, Dhaka, on Saturday night.
The incident occurred at around 9:15 pm in the Bottola area, on the road in front of the Department of Disaster Management, when a bus operated by Baishakhi Paribahan suddenly caught fire.
According to witnesses, the blaze originated from the rear section of the vehicle. However, they could not confirm whether the fire was deliberately set or caused by another factor.
Passengers quickly jumped off the bus as soon as smoke and flames were noticed, resulting in no casualties. The fire damaged the bus’s seats and engine, while several passengers were forced to break the windows to escape.
Local residents later brought the flames under control by fetching water from nearby sources.
The Fire Service stated that the exact cause of the fire could not be determined immediately, though officials suspect it may have been triggered by a mechanical fault.
