A mild earthquake was felt this morning in the Baipail area of Ashulia, Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka.

According to the Meteorological Office, the tremor was recorded at 10:36:12am. Duty officer Nizamuddin Ahmed said the earthquake measured 3.3 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre located in Baipail.

The mild tremor comes a day after a stronger earthquake shook Dhaka and other parts of the country on Friday morning, leaving 10 people dead, including a child, and injuring more than six hundred others.

The highest number of casualties—five—were reported in Narsingdi. Four people died in Dhaka, while one casualty was reported in Narayanganj. Many people reportedly jumped from buildings in panic during the quake, while some structures tilted or developed cracks.

Friday’s earthquake had its epicentre in Madhabdi, Narsingdi. The tremor felt in Baipail today follows just a day after that incident.
