BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman has said that Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani will remain a timeless source of inspiration for those fighting to safeguard the rights of the oppressed and to protect democracy, human rights, freedom and sovereignty in Bangladesh.

In a message issued on Sunday (16 Nov) marking the 49th death anniversary of the veteran political leader, Tarique Rahman said Maulana Bhasani’s unwavering patriotism and lifelong struggle for national interest will continue to motivate future generations to stand against the enemies of democracy and humanity.

He added that following Bhasani’s ideals in the truest sense would enable the nation to achieve its desired goals.

Paying deep respect to the memory of the “Mojlum Jananeta”, Tarique Rahman prayed for the salvation of his departed soul.

He described Maulana Bhasani as an unforgettable figure in Bangladesh’s national history and a pioneering leader in the anti-imperialist, anti-colonial and anti-domination movements.

From the anti-British struggle to championing the rights of the oppressed across the subcontinent, Bhasani had always demonstrated uncompromising and courageous leadership, he noted.

Tarique Rahman said Maulana Bhasani would forever be remembered as a guiding force in the country’s struggle for liberation.

He portrayed Bhasani as a shining figure in Bangladesh’s independence movement, democratic struggles and efforts to secure the rights of farmers, workers and the toiling masses.

His position was always against exploitation and in favour of the exploited,” he said, adding that Bhasani constantly emboldened the people through fearless and decisive leadership.

Recalling Bhasani’s powerful voice against injustice, the BNP leader stated that his thunderous calls once shook the thrones of oppressive rulers.

Tarique Rahman said the veteran leader earned the trust and confidence of the public because he consistently stood by them in times of great national adversity.
