The verdict in a case filed against ex-PM Sheikh Hasina and two co-accused over alleged crimes against humanity committed during the July-August movement will be delivered on Monday.

The judgement will be announced by a three-member panel of the International Crimes Tribunal-1, led by Justice Golam Mortuza Mojumdar.

Bangladesh Television (BTV) will broadcast the proceedings live. Officials said that a foreign news agency has also requested permission for live coverage.

According to the prosecution, all five charges brought against Hasina and co-accused Kamal have been proven. Prosecutors said they expect the maximum penalty.

At a press conference on Thursday, Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam stated: “We have petitioned the court to award the highest punishment. The court will exercise its judgement, but our prayer is that the accused receive the maximum sentence for the crimes committed.”

The verdict is scheduled for Monday (17 Nov).
