Interim government’s National Security Adviser Khaleelur Rahman is set to visit New Delhi on a two-day trip on November 19 at the invitation of India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.

During the visit, he will attend a conference of national security advisers from countries in the Indian Ocean region.

Although a bilateral meeting between the national security advisers of Bangladesh and India has not been fully confirmed, officials indicate that such a discussion remains a strong possibility, especially given Bangladesh’s evolving and sensitive political landscape.

Direct talks between key policymakers of the two neighbouring countries are viewed with growing interest, and sources say a brief bilateral engagement on the sidelines of the conference cannot be ruled out.

This will be the second visit by any adviser to New Delhi since the interim government led by Professor Muhammad Yunus assumed office in August last year.

Earlier in February, Energy Adviser Muhammad Faozul Kabir Khan travelled to India to attend the India Energy Week.
