The Supreme Court’s full court meeting has decided to promote more than 300 judges to the rank of District Judge.

The decision was made on Tuesday afternoon at the full court meeting attended by all judges of the Supreme Court.

The meeting also discussed the issue of former District Judge Kamrunnahar, who lost her judicial powers for granting bail to an accused in the Raintree case despite a bar from the Appellate Division. The Judicial Administration (JA) Committee has been assigned to decide whether her judicial powers will be restored.

Earlier, the meeting, presided over by Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed, was held from 3 pm to 5 pm. More than 20 agenda items were discussed, with most judges from both the Appellate and High Court Divisions present.
