Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP) for the northern region, has said that anyone previously involved with the Awami League or Chhatra League before the mass uprising will not be allowed to join the party.

He added that the NCP remains open to good individuals from other parties.

Sarjis made the remarks on Friday evening at the Abu Said Convention Hall in Paribagh during the coordination meeting of the NCP’s Dhaka Metropolitan North and South units.

He cautioned that those joining the NCP with personal motives will not find a place in the party and should return to their previous affiliations. The party, he said, will function according to its own ideals.

Addressing party members, he urged them not to pull others forward for personal gain or lodge complaints against colleagues. “We call on everyone to avoid such practices and focus on collective progress,” he said.

On the party’s future, Sarjis expressed optimism, saying if the NCP moves forward embracing aspirations in July, it could become Bangladesh’s most credible party within two years.
